"Cooking Fat" - or "Cookie" for short, was launched in June 1991 on the River Dart, Totnes, England. Rory McDougall sailed her around the world during a six year voyage that took them through the Panama and Suez Canals.
Cookie is a Wharram Tiki 21 design and is the smallest catamaran and multihull to circumnavigate the world at just 21ft in length. Cookie has no engine and Rory navigated his way using the time honoured simplicity of sextant and compass. Rory built Cookie on the site of the old “Pick & Park” market garden at Ipplepen, Devon, with the help of his stepbrother Barnes Robins. The world voyage was a wonderful discovery of islands, countries, continents, nature and cultures, experienced in a simple and non-intrusive way. The biggest discoveries for Rory however, were the insights into his own personal growth brought about by the challenges of voyaging and of loneliness. The most powerful lesson learned of all was to LIVE YOUR DREAMS !
